anything fishy affair: Norwegian Food

After I returned a few days ago from the north back am, of course, it is now time to write a little bit about the experiences of the past week - and I, as my father says, a "small Gobball " bin, I start on this course with the food.
The Norwegian are clearly a fishing nation - and it is worthwhile to try delicacies which are found on almost every map:
  • smoked salmon (with most of dill and lemon served, especially delicious on sandwiches )
  • cod (dried cod from the Lofoten in northern Norway, sound caustic, but tastes very good)
  • mussels (either in the Belgian version with chips or with pasta, in soups, etc.)
  • caviar from a tube (yes that there really is. It tastes slightly sweet and fits nicely with crisp bread with butter)
  • fish soup (taste different than the French Bouillabaise surprised them in that in it so really everything that swims, what the sea so has to offer)
  • crabs and shrimp (they exist in almost all variations - But beware, the Norwegians not take it as accurate with the information on the menu - for example, one can never be sure whether you were a "fumbling" must, if you type " prawns " ordered)

course there are in Norway, many other fish dishes such as trout with asparagus , halibut fillets, etc., but at this point, of course, only important to be mentioned.

That and the like has to offer the fish market in Bergen.

But in the Norwegian diet is further details see:

Similar as well as the Swedes who eat Norwegian very happy meatballs , as reindeer (which I have as a vegetarian but not tried.) But most strange of us like a "continental European" might happen to the cheese, the Norwegians eat you: The " brunost ," the brown cheese gefuttert there in vast quantities will see, not only look like caramel, it tastes so because when he surprised by its taste nutty-sweet flavors. Did they get used to these strange times sweet cheese, it tastes very well with the waffles, the Norwegians eat so much.

behave with alcohol, it is somewhat different in Norway than in Germany:

The beer, called øl , there are over 18 in any supermarket to buy and is available almost everywhere. Wine, however, is only to receive in restaurants, and special wine shops.

are especially strict laws related to "strong" alcohol: This is sold only from persons over 20 and is therefore not in many bars and all the supermarkets. As a result, that in classic cocktail bars usually only comes in when you are old enough, " zuzudröhnen . "

(. What was for me as a bar-hoppers one of the few real disadvantages to Norway)

Finally, I would still recommend some nice restaurants, where we ate in the days very well:

  • Café Sorgenfri - Bryggetorget 4, Akerbrygge , 0250 Oslo - in this fine (and unfortunately very expensive) restaurant on the harbor, there are some lovely fish and sun terrace is the ideal opportunity to observed passing people (why is worth it, I'll explain in another place yet)

  • A dessert at Café Sorgenfri

  • Café Tre Bror - Voss - The Cafe in the small, picturesque town Voss makes its original interior and the almost original customers as a meal into a true experience. Especially interesting: the art on the walls of the restaurant.
  • Lorry - Parkvn 12, 0350 Oslo - In Lorry might think curio cabinet have landed in one, for there is nothing you will not be in this store There. Culinary is particularly the Drinking Gourd at his expense, as Lorry offers a selection of 129 beers from around the world.

More from Norway will soon.

Brown Spots From Tanning

cultural journalism - Where is the Fermdwörterlexikon?

In his article, "As goes something" (31 July / 1 August, Süddeutsche Zeitung) clarify Alex Rühle us in a humorous way to know that the website "Atlantic Wire" at the moment the most boring, English articles of all time looking for - a wonderful idea, considering how vehemently magazines and newspapers now compete for their readers:

is all young, new, colorful, modern and most importantly - no more boring. Where formerly conservative experts in specialist Chinese themselves beweihräucherten should arise suddenly the print media for a new generation - the cool ones that are fun company with an interest in culture, an educated middle class, where everyone can suddenly everything as long as it is art.

but has been through the medium of "newspaper" in recent years really a makeover or is this image only by a youthful design and new-fashioned glitz suggests?

If you pound the cultural section of the bedrooms, one has sometimes the feeling that time has stood still: while find here articles, the topics are quite in tune with our time, but some of these writings present so incomprehensible that one might think that the adulation of the self-loving critic is still a common practice.

In less than a year is for me big day - the ceremony of the school leaving certificate, which I attested to the "Abitur". As "high school mature person" I consider myself quite the group of "educated classes" which should generally be in a position to understand texts with a certain claim.

but I can not understand why some journalists their endless box sets of technical terms such overload that the original statement sets the text in the word jumble. It is hard to see that you have only literature, art history, studied theater arts, music and linguistics needs to take to collect so many items of the cultural section in its entirety can. Is it not to inform the tasks of a journalistic text, comment and appeal, instead of creating confusion? But if not, at least one of these three conditions is met, it does beg the question of why writers write as they write. Why do they dress their ideas in unintelligible linguistic construct monster if it would go a bit more reader friendly?

play course, the "vanity" here is a certain role: SZ, FAZ and the world can now even have a different claim IMAGE or TZ - who does not understand the contents of a sophisticated press should not buy them and feel free to contact - address "fear, hatred, tits and the Weather" - as the doctors called it.

However, by a confusing and unclear reporting not only the exclusion of a "less educated" readers clientele instead - much harder to separate from some articles blind reverence and intimidation in the persons to whom the paper was meant to be.

As a reader, I may perhaps understand the text, but from reputable newspapers, I assume that there are "experts" are dealing with individual topics - and an expert opinion must be something its value, otherwise he would not even carry such a title.

This is precisely the cause of the problem: Often there is a lack of courage, honestly admit that the words of the "expert" author does not understand, perhaps even considers off-hook, and so there is a process that is very amazing:

To avoid embarrassment, is the the author's opinion adopted as their own and play when needed - either in exactly the same, complicated verbiage of the newspaper article that trigger with my interlocutors only the fake nod of understanding (because it is fact and neither knows how to themselves) - or , the contents of a text is so trivial, false and distorted passed that one on the other the impression that you have zero clue about the subject.

This development is not only unfortunate, but a bit more dangerous, because it deprives me of my freedom of speech. Perhaps it would be so time to get back to focus on "literature Pope" Reich-Ranicki:

Although like his views are controversial, but it is understandable: if he ruled the literary quartet "The book was bad," or his colleague Sigrid Löffler in the discussion of Haruki Murakami's novel "Sputnik Sweetheart" imputed, she held love for something offensive, then perhaps we may even are different about it, but sent the message that Reich-Ranicki is, after all, so understandable that I can start your own thoughts on a subject to make - and that ought to really be the claim of good journalism.

PS: follow are linked to Oslo - but only to the vast amounts of photos are viewed. ;)

How Can I Get A Unlimites Sidekick Sim Card

Moon

Sam Rockwell has denied Moon truly a theatrical tour de France. A representational and cinematic dream, not only for SciFi enthusiasts. Unfortunately, the beginning and the end sequence of the film destroy the otherwise excellent impression. This narrative technique is to approve funding, such as used the voice-over. A little more fine tuning and it would often become truly the "Best film since Blade Runner" reviewed Strip.

"Sam Bell: Gerty, I am a clone
GERTY: Are you hungry?"
dialogue from Moon, between Protagonist Sam Bell and the station computer GERTY
